      Give Good Gift Guide

Tis the Season! We are excited to share our Gift Guide with you today. Shopping locally and supporting small businesses (bonus for women owned) is important. We work to stock local vendors and are constantly expanding our product line to bring more unique brands to you. Do you think someone at Amazon does a happy dance when a sale happens? We don't either. But you better believe that we do!

Up first is the Zestt Organics Travel Scarf. A beautiful accessory for any woman on your list this year. Zestt Organics is GOTS Certified, Environmentally Conscious and Women Owned. These scarves are soft and lightweight and will fit in a carry on for that trip you're finally ready to take or a tote for sitting near an open window at dinner.

Hostest Gift, Wine Tote, Map Tote, Chicago Vintage Map Wine Tote

For the hostess on your list, or the picnic enthusiast the Vintage Chicago Map Wine Tote makes the perfect gift. Danielle Martin, founder and owner, "takes sustainability seriously" by using plastic free and biodegradable packaging whenever possible and avoiding essential oils that are unsustainable to produce. Danielle is also an active member of the community by supporting local organizations like the Broadway Youth Center. The balm pairs perfectly with a pair of Water Resistant Gloves from husband and wife founded brand ECHO New York.

Pom Pom Beanie, Tween Gift Ideas

Really this hat is cute on everyone! A tween is going to scoff at anything they didn't send you a link to so it's risky but one of our beanies would make a fun little surprise. And your friends would appreciate them too! Imagine stepping out in pom pom beanies together this winter!

What's not to love about ABLE bags. They're beautiful and each purchase supports ABLE. Working to break the poverty cycle, ABLE empowers women. Your mom, sister, bestie would be proud to receive an ABLE bag from you this year.

Gift Guide, Christmas Candles, Candle Gift, Hostess Gifts

Is there a person on the planet who doesn't love a candle? We have so many to choose from! It makes sense to snag a few extras to keep on hand and if Christmas comes and goes and you don't find someone to give them to... you get to enjoy them through the winter yourself!

Soberdough, stocking stuffer, groomsman gift, beer gift

For the beer enthusiast and/or baker in your life! Soberdough bread kits are the perfect stocking stuffer or Bitter Pops Advent Calendar accompaniment. We've had customers buy them as hostess gifts, as Thanksgiving gifts for family who can't make it to town and as groomsmen gifts!

9 Ways To Style | Faux Leather Pants

9 Ways To Style | Faux Leather Pants

We've asked again and our stylists have delivered! Annie, Hanna and Katie were tasked with styling the Poliana Faux Leather Pants and we have a set of 9 outfits that will be perfect for the chilly days we have ahead of us. The Poliana Faux Leather Pant has a flattering high waist style, wide elongating leg and an elastic panel at the back waist to ensure a comfortable fit!

Annie | Annie Frances Style Consulting

Annie combined the Poliana Faux Leather Pants with Vienna Turtleneck, tan belt and the colorful painted bag for a fun addition of color. Her second look combines the Mustard Carmelite Turtleneck, the Lima Cardigan and the ABLE Eden Bucket Bag for a high style earthy vibe. Finally Annie styled the same Eden Bucket Bag with the cream Nadine Top and the Alouette Corduroy Dress open as a jacket on top (we tied the belt back behind like you would on a trench coat).

Hanna Donnelly | Hanna Lee Style

With the warm temperatures we're having our summer graphic tees and tanks are still in rotation! Hanna popped a staple denim jacket and the ABLE Rachel Crossbody for an easy out-the-door-in-a-snap look. The same tank gets a dose of autumn with the (best selling) Dani Jacket. Finally the Caen Blouse gets layered under the Nessa Knit Top for a polished professional look.

      Katie | KS Style Consulting

The final three looks come from Katie and she softens the leather pants with the Hope Ombre Cardigan over the cream Nadine Top with the ABLE Emnet Crossbody. The Solar Plaid Coat takes center stage over the Fuchsia Pink Carmelite Turtleneck. Paired with open toe heels and the ABLE Rachel Wristlet it is a perfect meet-the-new-boss IRL outfit or just seeing coworkers again for the first time in a year and a half. The Lobelia Cardigan's bold stripe is a fun and energetic accent over the black Poliana Faux Leather Pants and the White Carmelite Turtleneck

Thank you to our stylists, to Kate Barnes for being our model and to Courtney Blackett for the photographs. It is a pleasure working with this amazing team of women!

      Family Photo Shoot Outfit Tips

      Family Photo Shoot Outfit Tips

It is that time of year again where impeccably dressed families will be popping up all around Lincoln Park.

That's right. Family Photo Shoot Season is here!

And in the last few years the outfit game has been raised for these photos. Matching PJs are still adorable and we're not discouraging that at all! But if you're not interested in your holiday card list seeing you in your jammies we've got some ideas for planning the perfectly coordinated but not matchy-matchy family photo outfits.

      Pick a Central Outfit

Aka your outfit! While we certainly encourage buying something new for the occasion the most important factor is how much you love your outfit. Pick colors that are flattering on you and that you feel confident in. Then pick complimentary colors to your outfit.

"Use your spice drawer as color inspiration," says Darcy Martinez, a fashion photographer in Chicago. And she's spot on! Especially in the fall these colors all go well together.

And every husband should have a decent pair of khakis he can put on for these pictures.

      Use Tone to Your Advantage

Meaning you can put your kids in the same color even if it isn't a matching item. We put together this blue on blue outfit and loved the way it gives the illusion of a dress (lengthening your legs and making you look taller) with the versatility of separates (being able to put these pieces to use long after your cards have hit the mailbox).

You could have your son wear jeans and your daughter in a dress and jean jacket. Or your husband in a hunter green sweater and you in a more mossy green top.

      The Rule of Threes

You've heard it in all the #shelfiegoals posts you've liked but groups of three are visually appealing. With that in mind try to pick three main colors for your family's outfits.

Some of our favorites: (And we saved more on our Pinterest Page

      • White/cream, Green and Denim
      • Camel Brown, Black and Burgundy
      • Brown, Blue and Cream
      • Mustard Yellow, Burnt Orange, Olive Green

      Add In Some Texture

For the city oftentimes our photos are around hard structures; the nature preserve arch in Lincoln Park with the city buildings behind it for example. And there's nothing wrong with that! We love our city and it is part of our family so why not show it off.

But with this in mind adding in some knit, mohair or teddy bear textures to your outfit will help soften the overall image. Corduroy and leather are classic fall textures too. And leather doesn't have to just be your boots - try a leather pant! We've got some fabulous choices that flatter everyone, so come check them out.

      Add In Some Pattern

Delicately patterned dresses are readily available and plaid is always available for men so find some pattern for a few members of the family. Scarves and bandanas can add a touch of pattern as well.

Breaking up the color block will make the photos more visually appealing and help give off the "we woke up like this" vibe!

      But Above All

      HAVE FUN!

Laughter and silliness are some of our favorite images to see and once you get the kids to do their silly dance for the camera they'll get some of their energy out and the more posed shots might be easier.

We can't wait to see your family photos this year!

Thank you to Raquel and Lauren for being our models. Thank you to Darcy for the first, second, third and fourth photos. Last photo credit goes to Erin.

9 Ways to Style | Apricot Tommy Top

9 Ways to Style | Apricot Tommy Top

We've asked again and our stylists have delivered! Annie, Hanna and Katie were tasked with styling the Apricot Tommy Top and we have a set of 9 outfits that will be perfect for the transition to Fall days we have ahead of us.

Annie | Annie Frances Style Consulting

Annie paired the Apricot Tommy Top with a herringbone pencil skirt and sneakers but you could easily wear booties or mules for an office friendly look. She also put it together with the peach terry moto jacket for a tonal look that mixes beautifully with a neutral pant. Finally she layered the top over the adorable green check, Caen Blouse button down. The frilly collar is the perfect touch of femininity.

Hanna Donnelly | Hanna Lee Style

The Intentional Layers trend continues with Hanna's first look. The Apricot Tommy Top over a cream satin blouse with jeans for business casual perfection. For running errands and for subtly supporting the Chicago Bears wear the top on it's own with the blue lake hat and the oversized (but just the right size) Able Tote. Finally to add some length and dimension, and in another tone on tone look, Hanna paired the Tommy Top with a flowy tank blouse. Perfect with jeans or leggings because the length of the blouse is CYA.

      Katie | KS Style Consulting

Katie also felt the home team vibes and paired the Tommy Top with the blue lake hat (we have a couple of versions) but added the woven bag for texture and a hint of summer. Another transition to fall outfit by pairing the top with the (amazing) Green Plaid Jacket, white cropped pants and the Able tote. Finally for business or brunch the Tommy Top paired with a wide leg pant (these are a true navy color). Keep the denim jacket handy for when the temp drops after the sun goes down!

Thank you to Lauren for being our model this month! We had a lot of fun playing dress up (have you seen the Reel?)
